Shuuji's father, former husband of Aki (widower) and the new husband of Nadeshiko. A man very busy with his work and not very present at home.

Less than a year after Akio's death, he remarried with Nadeshiko, who also lost her husband a few times before. She is (very shortly after she was introduced to Shuuji) came to live with her daughter Konomi (whom she had from her first marriage) in the Seto house.

Because of this far too fast remarriage and other factors, Shuuji and he do not maintain a good relationship and argue all the time. Because of tensions, Shuuji has been away from home for the last two years.

In fact, Kimio has been dead for a year, probably dead of sorrow.

When Akio was diagnosed to be dying, Kimio could not accept it. Seeing every day his wife wither more and more, he took refuge in his work. When Akio died, Kimio reached the bottom of the hole and was depressed a lot. It was in these conditions that he met Nadeshiko who lived the same thing as him, but taking care of him even less than him. Kimio then extended his hand to Nadeshiko to get him out of the hell of denial, as Aoi did for Shuuji after Kimio's death.

After a few months of support, Kimio and Nadeshko began to fall in love and decided to get married./
