Kiato is a third-year high school student and the president of the school's Newspaper club.

Kiato is a very unique student and he usually has facial expressions that resemble kaomojis. He also has a speech quirk to accompany said expressions and he even says and imitates popular Japanese sound effects like 'yaka~an' or 'shobon..' when he speaks. He appears to be interested in popular students like Amu and Motoko. He has a possible crush on Motoko and always asks her if he's allowed to take pictures of her, which she declines, but he doesn't seem to listen as he persists and gets beat up and thrown around by her quite a lot.
Kiato also gets really angry if people touch things in the newspaper club room without his permission, especially if they're not a member of the club. This is best shown when he threatens Yoshijirou after he tries to pick up a camera from the table in the room, to which Kiato reacts immediately, becoming aggressive and telling Yoshijirou to never do that again unless he wants things to get very bad. 
Further events in the visual novel also show him to be spiteful and he's shown to be a huge revenge seeker, as he gets mad about Motoko rejecting him and lures her at the back of the school waiting with two of his club members. However Yoshijirou finds out about this and goes to the spot, engaging into a fight. Kiato manages to spray Motoko in the eyes with pepper spray and blinds her temporarily. When he realizes his plan has failed, he apologizes insincerely and tells Motoko and Yoshijirou to help him with things in the sports shed, however that turns out to be a lie as he locks both of them in the shed once they walk in and then makes fun of them for being hard-headed and believing him./
His real face is rarely seen as most of his expressions are kaomojis, but when his true face is out there, it means he's up to mischief.
