葛城 ミサト

Operation director at NERV with the rank of Captain (Promoted later to Major)/.
She is the instructor of Eva's pilots and also the guardian of Ikari Shinji and Soryu Asuka Langley.

She is also the ex-girlfriend of Kaji Ryoji during their days at college. They break up due to Kaji reminds her of her Father, Dr. Katsuragi. Both of them reconcile later at a certain point in the story./

 Her Father, Dr. Katsuragi, died protecting her during the Second Impact, leaving his cross pendant with her. Her relationship with her mother is also not very good./
