Sumeragi's Apostle and a Paladin of the Diamond Knights.  While he presents a brave and noble front to those around him, he is in fact a normal, if somewhat self-absorbed young man who has found himself caught up in the web of aristocratic politics, pretending at being something he isn't.

 An utterly mundane innkeeper whose only goal in life was a quiet existence, he is identified as an exceptionally useful pawn by Sumeragi. His cover story as the first commoner to enter the ranks of the Diamond Knights is useful for pacifying the masses by giving them something to look up to.

Despite his designated role as the mascot of the Gods, Rufus increasingly grows dissatisfied with his lot. Unfortunately his mundane nature and preference for the easy option doom him to fulfil Sumeragi's prophecy; that he will never progress or go beyond where he is.

As the newest member of the immortal apostles, he is the first target for the Godslayer and his allies to confirm Fimbulvetr is up to the task. Had Ragna not succeeded in killing him, the alliance with Angelica would not have been cemented.

In battle, he relies on his god-given strength, immortality and the power to summon lightning. /
