Ayame is Makoto's mother (by remarriage) and has no blood ties to him.

She accidentally met Makoto's father 10 years ago when she went back to the store to rent a movie. She had really enjoyed the store and moved closer to Makoto's father. They got along very well and ended up getting married. She has since devoted her life to her new family, quickly adopting Makoto and considering him as if he were her own son and that even after the death of her husband.

Before Makoto left for the city, they both ran the store and were very close. As soon as Makoto left for her studies, she started running the shop alone before Kaho came to Ayame's place to help her. They then started to live together. 

They get along rather well and are friends despite their big differences. However, Ayame noticed that something was strange in Kaho's behavior : She was secretly going to Makoto's room to do dubious things.

Seeing Kaho as a potential danger to her son's integrity, she starts to watch her more closer. When it comes to Makoto, Ayame turns into a super protective mom and sees Kaho as a danger ... Or maybe she sees Makoto as more than her son ?

Ayame has very little sexual experience. She seems to have known only Makoto's father and was not married to him very long since he died shortly after they got together./
