When we turn 20, *****hood closes in on us. But it's not like we really feel like we've grown up the instant that happens. So, when will I become and *****? * * * It's about a 30 minute ride on the gently rocking train away from the heart of the city. This town on the water's edge has it's own kind of charm, different from the city with its lines of buildings. Development was progressing, and an "amusement park" had been built on this once empty land overlooking the sea. The landmark "Ferris Wheel" was starting to greatly color the impression of the town. * * * Right before summer vacation, third year student Tobari Youichi has stayed behind after classes are over. He was worrying about his future and what to do after high school, unable to find an answer. Before he realizes it, it is evening and he is still at school. When he opens his eyes a lone girl- Kaigara Kamome- is standing there. "I wrote 'I want to become an *****' on your career survey and turned it in." Kamome tells him, as if it were an obvious thing to do. Although Youichi is shocked by the impulsive actions of this girl, whose name he doesn't even know, he doesn't object. He doesn't mind being able to put off answering that question. A few days after their chance meeting, Youichi runs into her again in the empty classroom. She tells him that even though she's decided what she's doing after high school, she keeps re-writing her answer over and over. "I want to become a magician." "...of course, I don't mean that in a fantasy way." Even though her dream for the future is absurd, Yuichi starts to become interested in Kamome, who is trying to be honest to her own feelings. A faithful depiction of boys and girls who have grown too big for their Randoseru backpacks. A story of 'angels' and 'magic' that may have happened in this seaside town in mid-summer. Homepage
